Sawyer's 1...and then some.

So, I'm a big jerk-mom to not give my little Tom Sawyer Man a big
Happy First Birthday
So, here are pictures from the party.
Lots and lots of pictures.
With fun extras at the bottom.
At least, they were fun for me.
The two birthday boys--the day before their actual birthday.

With Grandpa before the festivities.

Ready to party.

Presents...with sister and cousin helping.

Love the paper...I think.
Love the box. Awesome.Sweet. A train. With animals.
And big brother's asleep so I don't have to share.

Too much ribbon, ladies.

I'll take care of the excess--by eating it.
I can work up to eating this chalk.
I'm a little tuckered.
Where's the cake?Sweet.
Looks good enough to eat. And wear.
And moisturize my face.
And lift one eyebrow.
What a great party.
Where's my box?
Here's what Dad and Uncle Shares-My-Birthday finished mere hours before the big event.
A before shot of out kitchen floor.
We didn't make that huge ding--the owner before us did and her solution to any home repair was...you guessed it, duct tape. She even left us a complimentary roll.
Overall view.
(I'm so glad we did the dishes before the picture. Yeah--those dishes are clean and drying in the dish rack.)

After shots.

Better than duct tape--you think? They did a very good job. Now I really have to paint. I'm tired of the brown. Anyone know if you can paint counter tops?

Proof that we have genuine, albeit painted, wood floors. And a close up of our old flooring. If you look closely next to the tack board, you can see the original brown laminate floor. Lovely.

Did I make everyone happy? You don't have to see Danny anymore, and I got pictures of the floor in finally.

I foresee getting further behind with posts as yard work season is coming and our yard needs lots of work. I'd post all about it when it happens, but it takes me so long to do it, I'd never get any sleep and might eat my young when they provoke me.

Let's not risk it.

Of course, it's 2:21 AM right now. I just cannot do posts while Mr. Destructo is taking himself, barefoot, to the park a quarter mile down the street.

Bye Danny--people, it's not what you think!

I almost forgot...I watched American Idol that we recorded on good ole', old-fashioned VHS and I want everyone to know that I do realize all the guys who made it in the top 12 are stellar performers and everything, but I was sad to see Danny Noriega go.
I thought he was funny and I liked how he sassed Simon and he made each performance interesting, before, during, and after. So, good-bye Danny. Rip it up somewhere else and maybe we'll see you again.

Now I'll focus solely on Brook, and the two non-stripper Davids. Go Mormon, Utahite, and Man with hot accent.

(Like how I said Utahite instead of Utahn? I'd like to think I've been reading the Book of Mormon a lot lately, but regretfully, Mr. Destructo ripped up my scriptures that's not precisely the case.)

Bagitball

I've been playing basketball with the women in the ward for some really, really, really badly needed exercise. I never made any baskets (despite my many desperate tries...at Scout Camp), but I think I've done okay for not being athletic, aggressive, or remotely graceful. Let's not get started on the effects of pregnancy that led to the challenge of bladder control that often affected my play.
Tonight we played double games and yah-hoo me jammed her fingers trying to intercept a ball in the first game and had to keep playing because we had no subs. Now let me warn you, I'm a big baby. I had to keep bringing it up, though I did try to control myself since there were other, needless to say, way more athletic ladies playing with knees coming apart and a bad wrist with torn tendons, and my injury was minor compared to that, but I'd like to think I sprained it, though the odds are slim to none. It is swollen and turning purple, and incidentally, it's my ring finger and since you take off all your jewelry when playing ball, I now appear single--with stretch marks (that are NOT swollen and won't be for a long, long time).
Now, due to the nature of how the ball hit me and the fact that I was able to pull the joint out and back into place, it's probably not really sprained, but it hurts when I try to straighten it all the way. The worse part is, I think it's a crying shame it couldn't happen on my right hand so that Dan would have to stay home to change all the diapers tomorrow. (Okay, it's really not that bad, but I did warn you I'm a big baby.)
The good news is that tonight was the last night of basketball and I can probably still operate the machines at Curves tomorrow and don't have to keep reminding the other gals on my team that I'm pretty much there to run back and forth.
I did worry that I wouldn't be able to play the piano on Sunday for some gals singing in our ward Sunday. No worries--I tried the song and it requires little use of the finger. No pun intended.

I'm Hooked on Hooked on Houses

I have found a really, really cool blog for house-lovers out there. It's called Hooked on Houses and I love it. Not only does she find cool historical houses to look at, but she adds interior photos of them and then links to more photos! I'm telling you, it's like dying and going to house heaven. When you look at this page, be sure to scroll down to where she has other houses and click on the Cobble Court link. Then, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Amy--I have not forgotten about your tagging--beginning five minutes ago.
