A Little Assistance Here...

Okay people, I know where to look for images on Google Search, but how the heck do I get them onto my blog? Can someone please help me (Kecia...Jamie...Laurel?) I'd be most obliged.

Good-bye, President Hinckley

I know I'm not the only one who will miss our beloved prophet. He was, naturally, my favorite speaker at General Conference and I was so sad listening to him on the news when they played some old broadcasts of him. I feel like my own grandpa has died. He did so much for the Church and for us, but at least President Hinckley can be with his sweetheart Marge again.

Update

The sun actually came out this afternoon! But it was still snowing. On the plus side, it made the snow glitter and dazzle, and at least all the new snow covered the old, gross brown stuff. When I finally let my kids out to play in the hateful snow today, I realised, having finally stood next to it rather than glare at it broodingly from the window, that we have a foot of snow. That means that my in-laws, who live halfway up the mountain in Bountiful must have somewhere between three and four feet. When I went out shopping tonight, I wish I'd had my camera. There was a pile in front of Target that was--I'm not exaggerating, I promise--almost twice as high as the suburban driving in front of it. How do they pile it up that high? Oh yeah--once I saw one of those construction machines plowing snow with its shovel/bucket thingy--it must have been one of those. When I was driving home, already disheartened at more horrible shopping skills and complete inability to find upholstery tacks at Target (a pretty good store), Wal-Mart (who I thought sold pretty much everything--even the junk that should never have been thought of, let alone manufactured), and JoAnn Fabrics (for crying out loud they sell drapery fabric, why not upholstery tacks?!) the temperature was 10 degrees!! (I put it in red to make it feel warmer. Yes, shiver me timbers it's co-old.) When I'm old, I'm so moving south...east where the yard sales are better. On that note, I'll try, very to be more sunny next time.

Downfall

News flash to everyone not in the Wasatch Front part of Utah. This will come as a really big shock, I know: It's snowing again.
Now, I realize that snow is what's supposed to happen in the winter, but I have not seen our dead, brown grass (which sometimes I like!) since Dec. 1. Oh wait, there was a Saturday where it actually rained and the snow was melting, and I was rejoicing that I could send the kids out without completely duding them up for the outdoors, and then the rain turned to heavy, wet, you-guessed-it, snow. At least someone in Layton used it to their advantage and built a 10-foot-high Shrek and Donkey next to it (sorry, I have yet to take a picture of it). Oh, I just peeked out the window and it has stopped. I guess I had better go shovel now. The whole time I'll be wishing that Dan had found a job somewhere in the South, or that I could sing well and work at Disney World, or be in the military and be stationed in Guantanamo Bay.

Snow is my downfall because all I do when it comes down is sit and wish it were summer. By the way, I probably won't go out and shovel--it hasn't been above freezing in...I don't remember the last time we had temps over 32. It was supposed to warm up this last weekend, but I don't believe it ever did.

Speaking of downfalls, Mr. Destructo (a.k.a. Mr. Stinky Pants) is going to be the death of me because I am constantly finding him in the bathroom with his cars in the toilet. I thought he'd quit that bad habit. (Is there an I Play in the Toilet Anonymous group?) Today I caught him before he'd pulled his car out and he was driving it around the inside of the bowl. Like an indoor, in-bowl racing track.

Perhaps I better clean the toilet.

Then again, this is the kid who drinks water from the gutter. A little toilet-water on the regularly sucked-on fingers never hurt anyone right?

It's not the gutter, but the driveway's just as good--especially when it has fresh rain-water. Mom and Dad hate this rutted, pot-holed 40-year-old driveway, but I sure love it.

Mmm-mm, tasty!

I'm Practicaly a Genius

So, I've had a Facebook account for awhile and don't understand the point of it and only really get on to confirm that I know other people on it, but I got an invitation from my highly intelligent brother to take some IQ test. I figure if he can do it, I can't, but I did it anyway. Want to know my score?
Freaking 28 right out of 30 questions!
That means...a score of 140!
(The average person is 100.)
I did it with 1 minutes and 30 seconds to spare and with the Tarzan soundtrack blaring above my head, Lexie asking infrequent questions and Dan calling on the phone halfway through to ask me something. (I might mention that before doing the test they recommended not having interruptions and having it quiet so I could concentrate.) By the way, I also didn't cheat.
I'm smarter than I thought!
Do I hear Master's Degree calling?
(Did I tell anyone about my dream I had once that I was going back to get my Master's?)
I'm still thinking about it...

Wanted: Self-cleaning Houses, Minivans, & Children

Since we bought our van, I've been jealously enjoying (is that possible?) the commercials for the new Dodge minivans. Sure, I would enjoy having a game room, family room, bedroom, storage room--and if they get around to it--a kitchen all compacted into my minivan, (negating the need for a camper), but what are they thinking with the white interior? Are they nuts? No one, in their right minds (which some of us mothers are not on a regular basis) would buy a van for our children with white interior. They are going to lose sales. I'm waiting for some car maker to have the brilliant inspiration to make a new car interior color where nothing shows. It would have to be a mixture of crumbs, home-made cottage cheese from the forgotten sippy cup, french fries, ketchup, and vomit.
That leads me to another thought: are you familiar with houses with central vacuuming? I'll be wanting one of those, especially if my van is going to become my living room. Has anyone seen my living room lately? No? Well you are missing out on a being-totally-grossed-out experience. Let's just say it makes my crumb-encrusted van look good. The sad thing is, we've only had the van for three months. Anyway, let's just say that the kind of "central vacuuming" I'm wishing for is the kind that cleans the whole house, does laundry and cooks three square meals a day at the same regularly-schedule time each day, changes some diapers, and plays with the kids. In other words, I want an Alice. I realize that's a super-condensed and summarized job description of a mom, but have I mentioned I am often looking to change jobs--it especially be when I've pulled all my hair out and have had species-regression-mutation and decide to eat my young. I have to go--Mr. Destructo is on his second poopy diaper and I think it's almost time for lunch.

Shopping Resolutions.

I forgot to add this disclaimer to "Check It Out":
I actually like self-check stands when I only have a few things to buy, but then, I've rarely had a rude person in charge and I am full of pride with the knowledge that I have figured out how to scan in produce and I can do it with ease.
But I think that the article is a funny story, and I wanted everyone else to enjoy...
Now, on to deciding whether or not I want to make resolutions.
So far I don't have any.
What do you think will happen?
One thing that will happen for sure--I am reorganizing my whole house and redecorating the bedrooms so my kids' rooms stop looking like a Russian orphanage, and so my room looks less like the hold-all, and more like a sanctuary.
Oh yeah--Heather, it's "reminisce".
